1h since last block. :sob:
i am really suprised that so many miners left.
I did expect to hit a wall like this
I think it is a good sign, less ram mining
i just started ram mining as the cloud folks went away
yep. probably.
seems like 400k per memory channel is about the ballpark one can expect, so quad channel workstations are actually the cost effective option for ram
multi socket servers with more channels across numa nodes do not bring more channels per dollar into play
generational gains in ram are about ~4% per generation and low latency ram tweaking brings you like 2% on top, so currently pretty much no matter what you do, 400k per channel is what's going to limit you
with ssd mining a dual pci-e m.2 is gonna bring 200k to the table, so that could also do something like 400k with precaching
and nvme seems to be 100k per drive, in potentia to 150k per drive, but that requires unsavoury trickery
and sata drives seem to do 30k per drive, though some care could bump that to about 50k per drive
I only have one board that might be new enough to actually use that 970 correctly, but it is back in a closet and I always have a baby to carry around so it hard to dig out.
So I have it running at 50kh/s in some turd burlger
the difficulty is now turning downwards, or?
as in i'm not seeing it go down all that much
It adjusts slow. Might take a few days.
and a new vanity block marker
@ppp has joined the channel
somebody help me

i don't connect to a node
Why not run PoolMiner rather than trying to solo mine?
Are you on Windows?
win 10
ok. Run node.bat
i am in a pool dont solo
ok
did you run pool-miner.bat?
mem-bat
how much ram do you have?
That isn't going to be enough for memory mining, since you'll need 128gb + os + overhead
so probably 140gb min
Run pool-miner.bat
if that works, then read the mining tuning section of the wiki
you can make good use of that ram in a different way
a 6 channel system with 192GB RAM would be king
ram is so expensive these days
My guess is one of the few facilities that can fabricate it caught fire
Work block load error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to select a field of at least 7. Availible: []
miner-pool
I just downloaded the completed file 7
ok, then your config isn't pointing to it
snow_path in the config should be pointing to the directory that contains the snowblossom.7 directory
snow_path=snow
ok, show me what is in your "snow" directory
what do you have in `snow/`
it is working
awesome
What kind of computer has higher hashes I want to improve it
on your computer, in the pool-mining.bat add -Xmx110g to the java command line
and then in the config, add memfield_precache_gb=90
title miner (SnowBlossom) start /B /LOW java Xmx110g -jar PoolMiner_deploy.jar miner.conf pause
right?
start /B /LOW java -Xmx110g -jar PoolMiner_deploy.jar miner.conf
mixing a dash in front of the -Xmx
missing
If you do it right, the miner will spend a while reading in GB of data into ram on startup
memfield_precache_gb=90 add to where?
Miner.conf
i will try
thank you good man
Start all over again
Yeah, it is running out of memory
There is a use old GC option somewhere
Probably in the mem-miner.bat
You need to use that
i need a more ram
for upgrading the 6 memory channel Skylake-EP looks like a very good platform, next step up would already be a Xeon E7 (or whatever they call those now)
jotted some numbers and would anyone have a cavium thunderex2?
sorta leaning towards that as a sweet spot for hash / watt / dollar
but arm java, dunno?
not bad https://www.anandtech.com/show/12694/assessing-cavium-thunderx2-arm-server-reality/9 Assessing Cavium's ThunderX2: The Arm Server Dream Realized At Last
heh, all the 'let us beat intel on at least one marketing metric' things are apparently all going for just the things which make snowblossom tick
qualcomm centriq might also fare well
