Hi, How to get my wallet address. Do i need put wallet addr to pool miner? Thank
welp, snowday's hashrate has plummetted
@Rotonen @THX 1138 4EB Finished my testing period now. Acc. to Samsung the max. read of the Evo 840 is 540MB/s. That means a max. hashrate of 23,04 kh/s (acc. mining-tuning-post). The memfield and pre_cache-gb options are of no use for my setup. The best result are with threads=32 and threads=64. I reach a hourly rate of 20,088 kh/s (32) or 20,027 kh/s (64) on 3h testruns. One last things i would like to verify. The amount of share depends only on the hashrate, am i right? Because during my testperiod i got more shares with 128 threads than 32 or 64 threads, but that's just a coincidence i assume.
man, 15 kh/s with my 750 EVO + 6GB RAM and 15 kh/s with my 850 EVO and that's when they decide not to be ridiculous and do 6 KH/s or something
@cristo don't change the wallet setting. it creates a wallet and uses it
what CPU do you have? @Columna Cripto mine is i7 6700
happy llama day btw
@THX 1138 4EB i7-4790S
@Fireduck is sip2 branch complete/stable?
Yes
SIP2 is a little funny in that it isn't protocol breaking, people can just run it whenever
@THX 1138 4EB Do i understand it right, that the Samsung Magician software would only give me a better write rate, it won't speed up the read?
I'll still have a vote before merging it in to master
@Lev did you post something? All I see is garbled.
;)
what post? didnt post anything
Haha
From the RVN discord: There have been several reports now of people having their wallets hacked after downloading Delosminer. The wallets auto transfer maximum funds out to hackers address once amounts of 5k - 10k are met. Anyone who has downloaded it already should transfer all funds to another wallet and clean install OS, burning the original wallet.dat. Delosminer is obviously communicating with wallets after downloading. Issue persists even after removing miner. Wallets hacked after downloading Delosminer have been REEF/RVN/PGN all x16s/x16r coin wallets look to be at risk.
not relevant to snowblossom but a good reminder to trust nothing and no-one!
Is it targeting snowblossom?
In addition to other things I imagine
RVN, now I see. That sucks.
I've updated https://snowday.fun/ and would like opinions on what it needs. Keep in mind, advanced metrics will require future updates to snowblossom first.
IMO it needs a box where I enter my wallet addresses and it tells me what my hashrate is and what my worker names are and what i've earned and what blocks it found and how much snow i have pending
it should show the network hashrate and the pool hashrate also (it shows a hashrate now but i dont know whether thats network or pool)
All good suggestions
@THX 1138 4EB those are all plans once the rpc supports it. :)
I see we hit field 7
happy llama day
@Columna Cripto i never knew samsung magician was a thing. i don't know anything about it but am installing it to at least update the firmware
are you talking about the "rapid mode"? 'cause I think that just puts stuff in RAM which it thinks you're going to need but it has no way of knowing what part of the snowfield you're going to need so it would be a waste of your RAM
Wait
So pre_cache is useless now? For someone like me with 64GB?
My miner on my NVMe is stil 1.07 I haven’t had time to download the new one so idk what rapid mode is
i think we might have crossed wires
rapid mode is something in samsung magician and not a setting in snowblossom miner
i don't think precache is going to help your snowblossom hashrates but i'm a brainlet who thought we should all be mining with RAID0 SATA drives (we shouldnt)
@Fireduck does SIP2 upgrade require a new MrPlow as well as SnowBlossomNode or just the node
just the node
mr plow rocks with whatever it is given, like an Envoy
so there is no change to share difficulty adjustment stuff with the new work weighting
righto
i think that is reasonable, just trying to think of some ways miners can abuse a pool
doesnt seem like an attack vector
it would be good if there was some kind of repository of mistakes made, bugs, flaws and attacks that cryptocurrencies have suffered already so they dont have to repeat mistakes
re: people asking about encrypting their wallets, they could just mine to a single address from their wallet and then encrypt the wallet using another program like 7zip, right?
somebody help me
have you downloaded field 7?
and you put it in the snow folder?
i'm sorry, I don't know but hopefully @Fireduck or @Clueless will be able to help
what's up
@ppp is the snowfield in the snow folder?
@ppp what's the error above that?
does it say the check failed?
What's the *full* error?
@ppp Use a pastebin and paste the output
@ppp Use the snippet paste function and past the entire output, that's just the last of it
Hi, My motherboard is MSI X470 gaming plus, i have an M2 SSD and 2 SATA SSD. I installed window 10 in M2 SSD and enable RAID for SATA port in bios setup. My window 10 dont see RAID SSD, when i go to raid setup, screen show like image. Did i do something wrong, how to fix it. Thank
you might get better support on the MSI forum. last time i checked they had very good support forums
@THX 1138 4EB Thank, i hope someone in this group did something like me can help.
@cristo I'll be able to assist after finishing somethign with my bro
I don't understand why snowday has lost so much of its hashpower :(
they weren't smart like THX
they built their house on the sands of field 6
i built mine on the solid foundation of field 7
when the snowstorm came in, their houses were torn asunder
protopool also seems to be gone or something
reliable ole protopool
i also now got 0 miners on snowplough
i suppose it's not really well advertised you can always also use a bigger field as well?
vauxhall seems to be doing well and now there's a hamster as well
what I don't understand is how protopool has so much hashpower
silent people with a lot of hashpower working together
they've been rather open about it, they go and personally get whale-y miners on board
no @Lev
I'm just concerned about a power imbalance
I'd prefer my pool dominate, or that the pools have equal power
:P
yours did
things come and go
someone said protopool is down
we're past the FUD marker
astroturfing is next step up the success ladder
We already hit fud?
there were already rumours about @Fireduck being MIA and/or dead
so yeah, way past FUD IMO
protopool isnt down http://snow.protopool.io/
i wonder what's so attractive about that 3% fee
early on people care more about the density at which a pool hits blocks
May be private
not so much of the fee
so hashrate is king
there's only like 15 miners on there, right?
worker counts are not displayed, but something like 15 addresses yeah
Does anyone know the website of this mine pool
it just says "hello world"
that is the website of it
based on the block explorer people mine on it
i didnt think the front ends of snow pools could get much worse
hey, i eventually put CSS into mine, and now there is even a bit of JS :stuck_out_tongue:
which is yours?
https://snowplough.kekku.li/ A Snowblossom mining pool which tries to do things slow, steady, stable and thorough.
0 H/s? You're not even mining on it yourself? :stuck_out_tongue:
i automatedly mine on idle hardware, nothing is idle currently
protopool has more than 50% it looks like. someone should switch
before pools i had 10% nethash, after pooling my pool has not exceeded about 5% nethash
the larger miners at protopool are skewing the network by choice since they seem to be doing enough hash to find plenty of blocks on any pool by themselves
Yes, that's my concern.
i'm pretty sure they are people who just mine many things, go to a new coin, set up, fire and forget
so if anyone wants to fix that, i'd not bother poking them, but getting a river's worth of small streams to distribute onto the nethash
but could be snowblossom is a bit too nontrivial to start mining for a lot of people interested
but there's also a new frequent vanity tag on the block explorer `hamsters`
when i run client.bat, i see 8 address. When i restart pool-miner.bat, i see hashrate switch to other address (all is mine). Is that normal. Can i control (send/receive ) all my address. Thank
@Rotonen i dont like hamsters alway making sport and eating at the worst time
when you sleep ...
@cristo it currently just picks a random wallet address at miner startup if you point the miner at a wallet, look at the config file, you can also give it an address
ugh, this is why discord sucks
can't group chat with people unless they're "friends"
you can make a server and invite anyone without being friends
@THX 1138 4EB Firmware update. Good thought.
@Rotonen Where can i see how much miners are in which pool.
@Columna Cripto you cannot
@Columna Cripto some pools enumerate hash raters or shares per payout address
@Rotonen i am "hamsters". dont worry about me. i dont bite. :hamster: :peace_symbol:
@fydel nethash spread is good
we will switch back to snowfile 6 when avg diff is under 39 again?
no, it never decreases
yeah, otherwise one could pump way too trivially
@Rotonen ok, thanks. I posted my test result earlier this day, if you haven't seen them yet.
test results?
@Columna Cripto looks as expected, i was predicting 8 x cpu threadcount to be optimal for sata and that seems like the correct ballpark
i actually have no sata devices anymore so could not test myself
@Clueless didn't know much about the config i should use, so i played around with memfield, pr_cache_gb and the threads
ah yeah
problem is everyone's system is different and it requires expertise to really tune it fully
@Rotonen should just have listened to you, but i learned a lot about my laptop at least.
@Columna Cripto no, i appreciate everyone trying to challenge what i say, that way i can also learn new things - especially if people ping back with confirmations or denials
@Rotonen one more question. I've got a dual boot with win7 and ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Is there a performance difference between linux and windows. Is it worth fighting my way through a script?
linux will get less in the way as it just hits the disk less when idle
but it'll also be less interactive if you saturate the IO
so if you plan to use it as a desktop while mining, probably not very enjoyable
also since you're on sata, peg the io scheduler for the device to noop for the mining disk to stop the kernel trying to help
@Rotonen thanks. Too much hastle for me, i stay on win7 and use my old laptop for the time mining. After llama i don't have enough disk space left anyway.
get a cheap low power mini computer like an intel nuc after that
i'm a nearly 40years old twat, who went back to university, because the old life was pissing him off. No cash left for goodies like that in the moment. But i will keep it in mind.
that should cost you ~300 used with 16GB RAM
just saw it, around 350€ + SSD
i will keep it in mind, thanks for the info
they're also relatively quiet, and other manufacturers also do them passive
Zotac has a pretty nice passive NUC featuring a i5. But not so cheap, of course
being both usable and passive bumps hardware to the 1k price range
Depends, as it is a bare-bones, so if you can get by with 8GB RAM and a small SSD, it'll be cheaper. But yeah, you are easily looking at $1K if you max it out.
Gigabyte Brix are cheaper and still nice, but thermally a bit more challenged. And not Thunderbolt and no NVMe
you really want to max the ram out on those, even for normal systems, but especially for snowblossom
absolutely. But if you are cash-constrained, 16GB RAM are really expensive right now
one of the few perks of wageslaving, you are not constantly broke...
maybe better to get a conventional motherboard https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/H370-HD3-rev-10#kf Intel H370 Ultra Durable motherboard with USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A & USB3.1 Gen1 Type-C, Intel GbE LAN with cFosSpeed, Dual M.2, 7 colors RGB LED strips support, Intel CNVi WIFI upgradable slot, Smart Fan 5, CEC 2019, DualBIOS™, Anti-Sulfur Resistor Supports 8th Gen Intel® Core™ Processors Dual Channel Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR4 New Hybrid Digital PWM Design Intel® CNVi 802.11ac Wave2 2T2R WIFI upgradable High Quality Audio Capacitors and Audio Noise Guard with LED Trace Path Lighting Dual Ultra-Fast M.2 with PCIe Gen3 X4/X2 & SATA interface RGB FUSION supports RGB LED strips in 7 colors Intel® Native USB 3.1 Gen2 USB Type-A Intel® USB 3.1 Gen1 USB Type-C™ Intel® GbE LAN with cFosSpeed Internet Accelerator Software CEC 2019 Ready, Save the Power as Easy as One Click Smart Fan 5 features Multiple Temperature Sensors and Hybrid Fan Headers with FAN STOP Anti-Sulfur Resistors Design Ultra Durable™ 25KV ESD and 15KV Surge LAN Protection Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready Lightning-Fast Intel® Thunderbolt™ 3 AIC Support
the case and psu rack up
for the record i'm wrong on threads == hyperthreads for ram, there is some out of order execution related cache interleaving trickery going on which makes more threads actually viable for more performance
i suppose the miner could just always start with one thread and then keep adding them until a stable state is reached
信息: Work block load error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to select a fiel d of at least 7. Availible: [] Who has the same mistake?
This is the file I downloaded
What's the deal with SIP2. Is it going to be activated?
@Clueless the group chat on slack is nice for sure
when i set memfield = true, i got out of memory heap size
i have 128GB ram, has anyone met that problem?
@lucky you'll not fit the field in that amount of ram, you'd need more - see the precache option
@lucky and just bump the java runtime heap size limit, the launcher scripts have examples `-Xmx`
@Rotonen i can not run since 6th field,
and set Xmx 128Gb as Java runtime variable
@Rotonen how can i set precache options, i couldn’t find it in example config
https://github.com/snowblossomcoin/snowblossom/blob/753e0500088d17aa73d5e3b145ebd49b4f0278b3/miner/src/FieldScan.java#L53 ``` double precacheGig = config.getDoubleWithDefault("memfield_precache_gb", 0); ```
@Rotonen Many thanks!
@ppp you need to give more of the error message
you need RAM for windows @lucky you cant give it all to the miner
@THX 1138 4EB, yeah i’ve tried, and it seem can precache max 108gb of 128gb ram
Really odd that since we hit field 7 my hash has dropped so much
I was getting 130k prechaching 50gb of Ram now I’m getting 45k
@lucky depends on what you have running when you start it
@cXplexus that is expected, think of the ratio of quick vs. slow seeks
From 130 to 45? @Rotonen
you have fast access to less than half of the field
previously you had fast access to almost all of the field
Would normal SSD mining drop as well?
i dont think so
depends, it can also increase, actually
if the file is better spread within the drive in regards to read balancing across the chips
every SSD is internally essentially a raid0 of flash chips
but we do not actually have anything general to say about whether or not it stripes internally or not - that's proprietary and not too easy to peek at
the more enterprisey a drive is, the likelier it is to tell you exactly what it does, as that might impact what you do with it
and consumer stuff is usually hacked down 'what can we still take off so it does not completely collapse' types of jenga puzzles

what happen?
looks normal to me.
I'm pretty sure the 8 with the bent legs means day or date
@ppp this usually means it isn't able to connect to a node
Hashrate spike from 500mh/s to around 1800. Got field 7 activated. Now back to 500
“Nothing to see here”
it's probaly much lower. i only have 17.6 MH/s. or my hamsters are super lucky.
Yeah, probably a combo of systems no longer memory mining or cost effective cloud
what to do anything?
good. more snow for selfish ole me and my 30 kh/s
We won´t see 256GB snow fields any time soon, do we? I´d like to buy some new nvme ssd´s
probably not, but hard to say
does snowblossom have a logo?
If so, it is super secret
So secret that i don't know it
does anyone know how much hr vauxhall has?
@Fireduck there was a sketch a while back here, wasn't there?
Yep that’s was me it’s in the makepretty group it seem
But nothing official for now just some draft
now with a very rudimentary mining quickstart wizard - should figure out better link colors etc. down the line: https://snowplough.kekku.li/ A Snowblossom mining pool which tries to do things slow, steady, stable and thorough.
