@Rotonen @THX 1138 4EB Finished my testing period now. Acc. to Samsung the max. read of the Evo 840 is 540MB/s. That means a max. hashrate of 23,04 kh/s (acc. mining-tuning-post). The memfield and pre_cache-gb options are of no use for my setup. The best result are with threads=32 and threads=64. I reach a hourly rate of 20,088 kh/s (32) or 20,027 kh/s (64) on 3h testruns. One last things i would like to verify. The amount of share depends only on the hashrate, am i right? Because during my testperiod i got more shares with 128 threads than 32 or 64 threads, but that's just a coincidence i assume.

From the RVN discord: There have been several reports now of people having their wallets hacked after downloading Delosminer. The wallets auto transfer maximum funds out to hackers address once amounts of 5k - 10k are met. Anyone who has downloaded it already should transfer all funds to another wallet and clean install OS, burning the original wallet.dat. Delosminer is obviously communicating with wallets after downloading. Issue persists even after removing miner. Wallets hacked after downloading Delosminer have been REEF/RVN/PGN all x16s/x16r coin wallets look to be at risk.

@Rotonen one more question. I've got a dual boot with win7 and ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Is there a performance difference between linux and windows. Is it worth fighting my way through a script?
Columna Cripto
2018-06-24 09:58:20
linux will get less in the way as it just hits the disk less when idle
Rotonen
2018-06-24 09:59:01
but it'll also be less interactive if you saturate the IO
Rotonen
2018-06-24 09:59:21
so if you plan to use it as a desktop while mining, probably not very enjoyable
Rotonen
2018-06-24 09:59:59
also since you're on sata, peg the io scheduler for the device to noop for the mining disk to stop the kernel trying to help

Rotonen
2018-06-24 11:32:47

@lucky and just bump the java runtime heap size limit, the launcher scripts have examples `-Xmx`

@Rotonen i can not run since 6th field,
lucky
2018-06-24 15:28:35
and set Xmx 128Gb as Java runtime variable

@Rotonen how can i set precache options, i couldn’t find it in example config

double precacheGig = config.getDoubleWithDefault("memfield_precache_gb", 0);

@ppp you need to give more of the error message
THX 1138 4EB
2018-06-24 15:44:45
you need RAM for windows @lucky you cant give it all to the miner
THX 1138 4EB

@THX 1138 4EB, yeah i’ve tried, and it seem can precache max 108gb of 128gb ram

Really odd that since we hit field 7 my hash has dropped so much
cXplexus
2018-06-24 15:48:56
I was getting 130k prechaching 50gb of Ram now I’m getting 45k
cXplexus
2018-06-24 16:04:10
@lucky depends on what you have running when you start it
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:04:45
@cXplexus that is expected, think of the ratio of quick vs. slow seeks
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:09:06
From 130 to 45? @Rotonen
cXplexus
2018-06-24 16:09:59
you have fast access to less than half of the field
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:10:08
previously you had fast access to almost all of the field

2018-06-24 16:22:17
Would normal SSD mining drop as well?

i dont think so

2018-06-24 16:34:56
depends, it can also increase, actually
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:35:09
if the file is better spread within the drive in regards to read balancing across the chips
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:35:32
every SSD is internally essentially a raid0 of flash chips
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:36:03
but we do not actually have anything general to say about whether or not it stripes internally or not - that's proprietary and not too easy to peek at
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:36:47
the more enterprisey a drive is, the likelier it is to tell you exactly what it does, as that might impact what you do with it
Rotonen
2018-06-24 16:37:11
and consumer stuff is usually hacked down 'what can we still take off so it does not completely collapse' types of jenga puzzles

@ppp this usually means it isn't able to connect to a node

Hashrate spike from 500mh/s to around 1800. Got field 7 activated. Now back to 500

it's probaly much lower. i only have 17.6 MH/s. or my hamsters are super lucky.

now with a very rudimentary mining quickstart wizard - should figure out better link colors etc. down the line:
https://snowplough.kekku.li/ A Snowblossom mining pool which tries to do things slow, steady, stable and thorough.
