I would have assumed a 970 evo would do decent, something is definitely not right.
Hey @Fireduck You should post in announcements on new releases
I put on my robe and wizard hat
read IOPS / 8 -> hashrate
the 970 evo is thermally constrained, so you need to actively cool it
also you get 8 nand channels only starting from the 1TB model
see the QD128 table https://www.anandtech.com/print/12670/the-samsung-970-evo-ssd-review The Mainstream Phoenix Rises: Samsung's 970 EVO (500GB & 1TB) SSDs Reviewed
that table is nice as it also shows the thread count delta
and as it outputs 10W of heat under load, that makes a dent too
@Fireduck yep, but side effecting effective mutexes is a thing - i am assuming it is some perfect storm of parallelity and concurrency mixing up, not the simplest case - something like your assumptions clashing with the assumptions of gRPC or the networking pause making the GC think it is now a good moment to kick in
I am going to try to avoid selling any for less than $1 unless I sell directly to family members. When we cross over to field 8 I am going to need to upgrade memory and buy 8 16GB for $512. At .20 per snowblossom, that would be 2560 snowblossom for a ROI of about 170 days before paying for electricity or any other costs. By that time we could already be in field 9. So there is a pretty big incentive to hold your snow for higher prices.
That makes this coin pretty awesome.
Another thing pretty awesome: with 128 GB fields, this is pretty bot net resistant. So many CPU coins have huge problems with bot nets.
@aikida3k 8x 16GB (128GB) for $512 seems cheap… is that DDR4 2133 or higher? server RDIMM/ECC or unbuffered/non-ECC?
as he is using a dell g7 it is probably ddr3 rdimm.
ahh, tx
