Wohoo, a few weeks after closing the channels on my ln node I have almost all of my funds back
some had a really long timeout, like 1440 blocks
It really does seem far away from mainstream adoption.
But yay.
yeah, I gave it a solid try to learn more about it
if I try to get back in my next goal will be to DoS the channels
When you route a payment, you probably effectively need a lock on all of the channels involved for the payment to succeed. This isn't super fast so there is probably a max of 1 or 2 tps per channel.
By carefully placing my nodes and routing payments over hot value channels I should be able to effectively lock out payments by others
but that is just my hypothesis
I see no reason why that wouldn't work. I've read some stuff about people DoSing their counterparty to broadcast outdated commitment transactions.
Slightly more serious because you could steal funds that way, although unlikely the counterparty wouldn't notice because you'd have to wait for the lock.
Do let us know how that goes if you ever try it!
sure thing
I wonder if AMD has less of these specter/rowhammer sorts of things
or if they are just not the first target
Rowhammer really is a DRAM issue, and Spectre works equally well on AMD (although they should do branch prediction a bit differently).
But Intel is worse in terms of "shady management engine".
a.k.a. Minix in Ring -3 that you can't turn off
you just solved our team name problem at work
"Shady Management Engine"
haha, I could find some places to use that in my workplace as well
