`Separating church and state, a how-to guide by Cersei Lannister`
@Fireduck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_B6KHqsNG0 YouTube Video: Gentoon Peruskäyttö - Gentoo Linux Basic Use
that premium cold weather foil tape is an icon on the university campus i'm originally hailing from :stuck_out_tongue:
fun fact, i've hosted a panel show on FM radio a few times where we install gentoo overnight
Ha
essentially a topical magazine on what's up in the linux kernel and X11 since last year
Worked a job where we used gentoo
used to be an annual thing
Took a few days to have x windows and a browser
gentoo is pretty good for customization, the finnish post office built the package automats on top of that, since the hardware was weird
i got into gentoo on a pentium 2, yes, KDE took days
no jquery
gah, spanning is broken in the css
Do I get to veto things that make me irrationally crazy?
potentially, lots of things can be changed
I hate am/pm with the burning fury of one thousand suns
24 hour time
oh, AM/PM isn't supposed to be there, it is 24 hour time
@Fireduck and if some messages are "missing" it's because they're delivered in the form of "attachments" or files by bots or people
Ha
and utc please
fine, that's what I had originally
bonus points for following any standard for timestamps
@Rotonen better? ;)
So get this, as far as I can tell, there's no slack api method to fetch the list of bots you can only figure that list out by fetching all the messages, parsing them as you collect them THEN fetching bots individually in api calls.
the iso is a bit silly, but at least it's a standard
personally i usually substitute the T with a space
I can nit pick a lot of things, let me know if you are there
go nuts
I know that sort of input is not helpful if you aren't looking for it
fixed width font on time
Left or right justify the usernames, no centering
more
need a background color
just slightly toward lavender
#f3c7fc maybe
on color choices, look at the design rationale of the solarized theme, but do not necessarily nick their color choices
darcula
i just mean mr. schoonover wrote a good piece of design rationale
we don't really have a plan thus far
but this is great, I want to host it on S3/Cloudfront because eventually, hopefully, we are going to get someone laying DDoS eggs in our face
and I want to be ready if we can do so with minimal cost
but regardless, this is awesome
it will be great to have my dumbass remarks indexed by google
and viewable without joining slack
sweet revenge?
Against google? no way.
I was dumb for staying there so long but it was a great place to work
i suppose such a corporate ladder would be a brutal climb and not worth the trouble
one is gonna do better by starting from higher steps elsewhere
Yeah, the amount of effort to get promoted was certainly not worth it for me
also life balance is just better at smaller shops which are not aiming for explosive investor yields
Google was pretty good on that
At least in the groups I had contact with
maybe the zürich office is different, but the locals i talk to from there are not something i'd go for
I was just not doing any interesting engineering myself
i mostly know people working on google maps
that product is a bundle of trouble, as they seem to fear apple and it's also tying directly into hardware costs, general performance, software architecture management, the ad sales stack, machine learning endeavours, bad data sources
i suppose you're still on some not-ever-tried-in-court types of NDAs
I don't even think I am on any sort of NDA at this point
Didn't sign shit on exit (why would I)
and the starting contract wasn't bad
curious
however, it was 2013, so maybe I just don't remember my contract?
heh
usually there are anti competition clauses and such, but i've mostly signed partner agreements, not job contracts (or, well, i've of course *hired* people, but :P)
maybe the investors to which i've been exposed skew my frame of thinking there
