interesting.
I need it
@Fireduck no, you need the next gen intel ruler format ssd
@Fireduck https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/data-center-ssds/dc-p4500-series/dc-p4500-8tb-ruler-3d1.html essentially 'U.2' meets 'full depth rack hardware' Intel® SSD DC P4500 Series 8TB specifications, benchmarks, features, Intel® technology, reviews, pricing, and where to buy.
I don't even know what ruler format is
U.2 is the enterprise M.2
Boo 3200 MB/s
I can get that from a taco salad
as said, next gen, the yet unannounced one
but you need the capacity
as in what do you eventually make and host snowfields on
though, to be fair, something like 32TB storage for mining is a bit brutal as well
currently, I collect a bunch of 2TB sata SSD drives
with those a simple JBOD should do for now
going for LVM, or?
mdadm
stripe
one partition -> lvm physical device -> add to volume group -> extend volume -> ~JBOD, irrespective of individual device side
otherwise if you mix sizes over time the smallest one will decide the end volume size
also you essentially lose all data when one fails in both cases so rather maximize for the space? striping will also be performance limited by the lowest one, but at least a JBOD can out-do that in bursts and thus also over time in average
a raid 0 is essentially only relevant if you want consistent write speeds and have uniform hardware
i do that lvm trickery with usb sticks on my home dlna rasppi setup so i can stream media in the house
@Fireduck how are your pet pigs doing? :pig2: :pig2:
