@Rotonen Ha. I've recently really gotten into Docker. I recently chatted with the duck about remaking that.
docker is hard
it inverts the version control of packaging systems
I think for me docker fills a void that I don't really have
I am generally happy doing dumb things like making a script that does a bunch of rsync and runs commands
when I want to deploy a bunch of something
or just set it up and clone the VM
@Rotonen hm. I don't know what's hard about it. It seems to streamline a bunch of stuff. I've just made an alpine image that builds snowblossom. :P
If you rename the script that does a bunch of rsync & commands to `Dockerfile` you're almost there already.
ha
@Clueless i take it you do not have to maintain the long tail of things
@Rotonen my last two months at work were developing things in docker. :P I loved every minute of it. What do you mean by maintain?
I regard docker as a deployment packaging solution. Not an artifact solution.
go to a big org to sort out for them which of their containers across their whole fleet are affected by a glibc bug
Was it all of them?
no
@Rotonen I'd guess you just search the code base that produced those containers?
or openssl, or any which ever
’just’, yep, exactly the hard bit
ha, I was gonna quote that "just"
but meh, i’m currently flown out to fix fortran77 issues
so what do i know
I'm lost with fortran, sounds like a game
fortran77 sounds like a plane.
32-bit unix time is going to be fun for us
well, my cheeseboard and portwine just came, so i’ll enjoy those rather than being snide about containers
@Rotonen be snide, debate is another way I learn. :P
He has to go eat his snacks by candle light
yeah, you know airplane security is theatre when they give you an open flame in flight
I was wondering about that
thought it might have been one of those electronic led with flicker
i hoped as much as well, but nope
madness
On the upside that looks rather decent for an airplane meal.
The last one I had was some sort of unidentifyable gelatin blob.
qatar qsuite, can recommend
@Clueless do you want to go to my house and help April assemble a pirate ship for Lola?
I can't leave work early to do it and Lola is really excited about it
sounds neat
April will come pick you up if you want
