is teapot still running?
yes
my node seems to be stuck at height 48xx
@Tyler Boone but *someone* seems to be using testnet for loadtesting
it's larger in storage than mainnet
and it hangs(takes longer) on blocks that have a lot of transactions
Heg
the hangs are epic...
You are free to profile and improve
thanks
It takes time to validate a few thousand transactions in order
And commit that safely
got it
@Fireduck @Tyler Boone I'm preparing to push the cluelessperson/snowblossom wiki to the master repo
merging the recent changes to my fork
Mining-Tuning and FAQ
Ok
any reason not to merge fastfail into master?
probably
doesn't do anything if you don't set that depth, right?
correct
at least, I think that's the current status
heh, might as well
let me verify
smart
the unit tests will also check
bazel test // ...
hmmm, not looking right...\
I'll check it out
oh, I'm dumb
I got it
I defaulted to 6 minimum depth
dumb is a gift a man gives to himself
I am updating the firmware on my light control system
most likely it will fail and I'll be unable to control lights in my house
haha
The system is shit, the software times out all the time talking to the controller
it is like they didn't use a standard network stack and rolled their own
well it looks like it's working as expected, but the test is failing
There was 1 failure: 1) networkReconsileTest(systemtests.test.SpoonTest) java.lang.AssertionError: Does not seem to be making blocks
heh
maybe it should make blocks
I see a lot of this: Jun 18, 2018 10:18:07 PM snowblossom.miner.SnowBlossomMiner$MinerThread buildBlock INFO: Block submit: success: true
Jun 18, 2018 10:18:07 PM snowblossom.node.BlockIngestor ingestBlock INFO: New chain tip: Height 13 001b053a8c991b693b95d272ea7948c0f2075a8744120ba07d40bb61f778fa50 (tx:1 sz:2150)
in the unit test log
looks like it is making blocks
Jun 18, 2018 10:18:25 PM snowblossom.node.SnowUserService submitBlock INFO: Rejecting block: snowblossom.lib.ValidationException: POW Pass index does not match 46786 59006 65536 Jun 18, 2018 10:18:25 PM snowblossom.miner.SnowBlossomMiner$MinerThread buildBlock INFO: Block submit: error_message: "snowblossom.lib.ValidationException: POW Pass index does not match 46786 59006 65536"
yeah, that is fucked up
ok, fixed it
shockingly the new lutron firmware didn't brick it but actually fixed a ton of stuff

i guess issue 4 could be ’should people read the manual first’ or so
for the next first of april
or just make a disclaimer that you need a min IQ to use snowblossom
fun and inclusive would probably be the angle to take, the nefarious sounding ’crypto circles’ is already used as grouping derogative in the press
[snowblossomcoin/snowblossom] #86 Fastfail
@Rotonen The plan is for me to update the default config to ``` vote_no=a,b,c vote_yes=d ``` instead of numbers 1,2,3,4
where it can be any comma separated ascii, or?
human readability could do something
Votes have to be on integers
if people can't read enough to not just put in whatever sample of voting config they set, they will do that with letters as well
and then complain that their software doesn't run
so probably better to just give up sip4 to the testing gods
sip4 - I never learned to read
what does sip stand for?
snowblossom improvement proposal
suggested iterative porcupine
yes, the sword pig one
yes
I wish slack had a plan between free and $5/user/mo
what do you want over the free version?
message retention
@Fireduck mattermost?
never heard of it
and to be clear, the free slack is pretty damn awesome
I feel like there is an opportunity here for a product which you pay for a small number of heavy users (your team) and then have some kind of pooled usage for a long tail of light users (your customers).
or they make enough money from corporate customers who don't give a shit about $5/head
and use projects like this as a loss leader
the pricing is steep for hobby projects
I could also see charging for actual storage and bandwidth used
oh good, my ipv6 stack is broken again
should I document these ideas as future ideas we might want to support?
nope
I kinda think it's important
What is important?
Are we winning?
Also, turning all my VMs back on after a power loss is kinda a pain
Seattle power is reliable enough where I don't automate it
*force-pushed the https://github.com/snowblossomcoin/snowblossom/tree/master branch from `82d5690c` to `797b5003`*
lol, I just rolled back that change. :P

[snowblossomcoin/snowblossom] Release - Release 1.1.1 - Minor cleanup
This time with feeling
I think henceforth releases should have names or mottos
"this time with feeling" is a good one
probably
or actual release notes
[snowblossomcoin/snowblossom] Issue closed by cluelessperson
i suppose now looks like the time to upgrade from 1.0.7
1.0.7 was a fine release
the status txt output does not use the locale for formatting the numbers, took me a while to figure out why gnu sort did not pick up on that, just needed to use the correct locale for the decimal separator to be understood
wacky
that's such a trivial side quest i'll not even make an issue for it, pool operators should be able to manage
I use java.text.DecimalFormat just like everything else
not sure why it would be different
most european locales have , and . the other way around for thousand separator vs. decimal separator
right
a common gotcha
the worst is swiss german, though, their thousand separator is a `'`
Are other floats from snowblossom correct?
gl hf for the newbies with bash
the float seem fine, if you assume C or en_US
but: do not bother with internationalization or localization at this point
when we make user-friendly clients we'll use proper localization
I'm of the opinion that logs should always be in the developer's language
and right now that's what you are seeing. the logging
there's like a handful of companies globally pulling off decent localization (not translations, but stuff like layouts adapting to for example date format differences, writing system diffferences, etc.)
that's a pretty exclusive path to take, internationalization and translations should do
@Fireduck 1.1.2 slashed cpu use of the pool to about a third of 1.0.7 - maybe just because it now actually drops the stale miners from the stats?
@Rotonen Don't make me break out the python. I can parse that right out to json and show fancy stats too!
